Our Story

From a high school gym to a thriving volleyball community — Bossley Bears was built on passion, friendship, and the love of the game.

Bossley Bears Volleyball Club was founded in 2019, not as a formal organisation, but as a small group of schoolmates who discovered volleyball during high school and instantly fell in love with it. Led by founder Dat Thai, what began as casual games among friends quickly grew into something more meaningful — a tight-knit group sharing a common passion.

As the number of players grew, so did the commitment to the sport. From one team training once a week, the group steadily expanded into a small but vibrant community. By 2024, the vision for something bigger became a reality: Bossley Bears officially took shape as an affiliated club with Volleyball NSW, marking a major turning point in our journey.

Today, Bossley Bears is home to hundreds of athletes, with programs running 7 days a week across multiple venues. We proudly compete in the Sydney Volleyball League, Youth Sydney Volleyball League, and a range of local and state-level competitions. Our players now span all ages and skill levels—from beginners taking their first serve to elite youth athletes representing NSW.

We’ve celebrated major achievements along the way, including gold medals at the Volleyball NSW State Cup for our U18 Boys and U16 Boys teams, and consistent podium finishes across other divisions. We’ve also secured support from local businesses, whose sponsorships have helped us expand our reach and impact.

What truly sets us apart, however, is our club culture. We’re a community first — a welcoming, family-like environment where players grow both on and off the court. Many of our current coaches began as Bossley players themselves, now giving back to the club that shaped them. We’re proud of the development pathway we’ve built, guiding athletes from their very first game to the highest levels of state and national representation.
